We consider macro factors and trends relevant to the specific countries and areas in which we operate to secure the long-term sustainability of our business.
Similarly, our specialist teams on the ground consider the unique challenges, opportunities and risks specifically associated with each asset within its region. To ensure that we manage our impact and secure the long-term sustainability of the group, we have established clear objectives in alignment with our business strategy. These are interpreted and addressed differently in South Africa and Spain due to the distinct ESG landscapes, which include the unique macro circumstances, regulatory environments and socio-economic challenges and, on a micro level, the difference in asset types, asset maturity profiles and community needs.
By taking this approach, we aim to ensure real impact and sustainable commitment to our ESG goals, even at the potential expense of earning higher scores on some of the US- and Euro-centric scorecards.
